Trick Or Treat, The Movie, The Soundtrack

It's that time of year again when the leaves fall from the trees, the hot summer sun retreats, and the ghouls come out to wreak havoc. Ok, the ghouls may not be coming out to wreak havoc, but the rest is true. October is finally here! This is definitely my favorite time of the year. Every blog entry for October will have something to do with this time of the season.

I figure a good place to start is with the 80's horror cheezefest that is 'Trick Or Treat'. Sure it's cheezy as hell, but back in 1986 I thought it was one of the coolest horror flicks I had ever seen. What's not to love about it? It has heavy metal music, a metal vocalist coming back from the dead thanks to an evil album, Skippy from 'Family Ties', Gene Simmons as a radio D.J., and Ozzy playing the part of a preacher! This all seemed really awesome back in the day when I was 14 years old. I do own a copy of the movie on DVD now, but I must confess that I've only watched it once since I bought it. Now it fits into the category of being so bad that it's good. I happy to say that my 13 year old daughter really digs this movie...well she did when she was 12 anyway.

You know what's even better than the movie? The soundtrack is better. Fastway did a great job with the music for the soundtrack. It's probably their best musical output. Back in the 80's I'm pretty sure that every friend I had who was into metal owned this on vinyl or cassette. These days I have a cd-r copy of it that I generally play at least once a year. If you've never heard the soundtrack you should really check it out. I'd definitely rather listen to the soundtrack than watch the movie, but Trick Or Treat the movie is worth seeing just for nostalgia's sake.

Watch The Trailer.

I have that but I have a hard time watching it now.

I'll be watching Halloween, Silence Of The Lambs, Audition, and a few more this month. As the day gets closer.

I'm 38. I'm addicted to Xbox 360 gaming and Dallas Stars hockey. I make a decent living at a boring job where I run two autoclaves and do various other tasks. My escape from this boring as hell life is video games, hockey, and music. I generally listen to Metal music, but I also love 80's tunes as well as 70's tunes. I have an unusual love for the band Overkill. They do it for me for some reason. Blitz is GOD!
