I rarely eat candy bars anymore. They are just plain bad for you. They are full of sugar and saturated fats. Some even contain trans fat which I try to stay away from. These days when I grab a candy bar at the store it's a Payday. They taste great, and probably contain the least amount of fat. Man, do I sound like health nerd or what? The following are candy bars I'd like to find in my trick or treat bag.
1) Chocolate Payday (They're back! They made these in the 80's, and then they disappeared for years. These are heavenly!)
2) Caramello (Cadbury knows how to make some awesome chocolate candy! Can you say Creme Eggs?)
3) Heath Bar (I love Heath Bars, but I wish they were bigger.)
4) Zero (Zero bars are so unique. An old friend of mine loves these things. I like em too mostly because they are so different from all of the other candy bars out there.)
5) 100 Grand (I haven't had one of these in a long time, but I remember eating tons of them when I was a kid.)
Most of the movies that scared me were older movies from the 70's and 80's. That makes sense because when I started watching horror movies I was just a kid. I doubt if those movies would scare me as an adult if I had just now watched them. I'm always looking for that movie that will creep me out as an adult, and I've really only seen a couple. Obviously newer horror films don't scare me now, but I have had a couple send chills down my spine.
1)The Exorcist (I have a feeling that this film would make a lot of top five lists. When this was first show on tv it was like 1980 or 81. My mother wouldn't let me watch it. I was only like 8 years old. I remember going to school and hearing kids talk about just how damn scary it was. From that point on I knew it was a movie that I had to see. It wasn't untill four years later that I got to watch it. Holy shit, did it scare the living shit out of me. If my mom had let me watch that when I was 8 I have a feeling I would have been scared for life. This is one film that I would never watch alone in my dark basement even at the age of 36. This is definitely the scariest movie I've ever seen.)
2) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ( I actually watched this a while after seeing The Exorcist. I was at my cousin's house when I saw it. We were both scared shitless. Never before had I seen such craziness. The things going on in this movie are just so bizarre and terrifying. The thought of people like this existing in some out of the way place is just scary as hell to me.)
3) Amityville Horror (Back in the day people talked about how this house was actually haunted. From everything I've read it was pretty much proven to be bullshit. I still wouldn't stay in that house even on a dare. The look of that house just creeps me out. This is yet another movie that scraed the shit out of me.)
4) Jaws (It's not exactly your typical horror movie, but damn is it scary as hell. To imagine a shark that big that is constantly on the prowl eating people who swim in the Pacific Ocean is just creepy. After seeing Jaws I didn't even want to go in the lake or a pool when I was a kid.)
5) When A Stranger Calls ( The opening scene of this movie is just insanely creepy. Having the killer right inside the house calling you on the phone is just pure horror genius. Have you checked the kids?)
If you're not into metal you probably have no idea who King Diamond is. Most 'metalheads' first heard King Diamond when he was the frontman for the band Mercyful Fate. I gotta be honest and say that I didn't find out about King untill somewhere around 1987. For me it started with the album 'Abigail'. I must admit that when my friend first played this album it kinda creeped me out. He had a room in the basement. He put this album on, and turned out the lights right before I was about to crash on the couch. Starting with the creepy intro and right untill the very end I was just slightly creeped out by everything I had heard. I had never heard a voice like this in my life. I knew I wanted to hear more though. It wasn't untill a year later when King's album 'THEM' was released that I would become a fan of his music. It wasn't just the music that I was into, but I had a fascination of the man himself. Just who is this man who wears makeup, worships the devil, and calls himself King Diamond? That's what I wanted to know. I can still remember seeing King host Headbangers Ball. HaHa after seeing that all I could think was what a total goofball this guy is. King Diamond continues to release albums. Most of what he has created really hasn't done all that much for. Pretty much everything after 'THEM' is hit or miss in my opinion, but I'll always have a place in my heart for 'Abigail', and especially 'THEM'.
I love Mellowcreme Pumpkins. They are kinda like candy corn, but taste so much better. Last year I bought a 2 lb bucket of these suckers and ate all of them. I was just at Wal-Mart today and saw this same bucket and passed them up. My willpower was strong today. It probably won't be as strong the next time I see them though. I'm wishing I had some right about now.
Watch this classic "Screamer" kid freak out. Comedy gold!
I watch a handful of shows on television, and Ghost Hunters happens to be one of them. Ever since I was in elementary school I have been fascinated with ghosts and spirits. I can remember checking out books on Ghosts as early as the 4th grade. I still have supposed pictures of ghosts from those books etched in my mind. I realize that we should be more afraid of the living than the dead, but just seeing images or video of ghosts just creeps me out to no end. There were a few episodes of Ghost Hunters that just made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Two of those creepy episodes both took place in lighthouses. When shit like chairs move on their own in thses episodes it freaks me the hell out. In one lighthouse episode nothing had been happening all night. I believe it was Grant who got up out of a chair in a dark room to leave. He then closed the door. Just a few seconds later the camera caught the chair he was sitting in move a couple feet really fast. Shit like that sends chills up my spine. Another great episode was when T.A.P.S. stayed at The Stanley Hotel in Colorado. They caught some really awesome stuff in that episode like a closet door that opened by itself as well as a glass breaking and a table moving. Oh, and don't even get me started on some of the EVP's that they catch on their digital recorders.
These days as an adult I rarely ever get scared by anything I see on television or movies, but Ghost Hunters really creeps me out from time to time.
It's that time of year again when the leaves fall from the trees, the hot summer sun retreats, and the ghouls come out to wreak havoc. Ok, the ghouls may not be coming out to wreak havoc, but the rest is true. October is finally here! This is definitely my favorite time of the year. Every blog entry for October will have something to do with this time of the season.
I figure a good place to start is with the 80's horror cheezefest that is 'Trick Or Treat'. Sure it's cheezy as hell, but back in 1986 I thought it was one of the coolest horror flicks I had ever seen. What's not to love about it? It has heavy metal music, a metal vocalist coming back from the dead thanks to an evil album, Skippy from 'Family Ties', Gene Simmons as a radio D.J., and Ozzy playing the part of a preacher! This all seemed really awesome back in the day when I was 14 years old. I do own a copy of the movie on DVD now, but I must confess that I've only watched it once since I bought it. Now it fits into the category of being so bad that it's good. I happy to say that my 13 year old daughter really digs this movie...well she did when she was 12 anyway.
You know what's even better than the movie? The soundtrack is better. Fastway did a great job with the music for the soundtrack. It's probably their best musical output. Back in the 80's I'm pretty sure that every friend I had who was into metal owned this on vinyl or cassette. These days I have a cd-r copy of it that I generally play at least once a year. If you've never heard the soundtrack you should really check it out. I'd definitely rather listen to the soundtrack than watch the movie, but Trick Or Treat the movie is worth seeing just for nostalgia's sake.
I'm 38. I'm addicted to Xbox 360 gaming and Dallas Stars hockey. I make a decent living at a boring job where I run two autoclaves and do various other tasks. My escape from this boring as hell life is video games, hockey, and music. I generally listen to Metal music, but I also love 80's tunes as well as 70's tunes. I have an unusual love for the band Overkill. They do it for me for some reason. Blitz is GOD!
